Treatment of nontuberculous mycobacteria

• The antituberculous drugs are usually not effective

• Kansasii: INH, RIF, Ethambutol

• Avium: Macrolide, Rifamycin, Ethambutol

• Rapid growers: clarithromycin and 2nd agent

• Leprosy: Daily dapsone, monthly rifampin
