Dr. Brody's research shows that growth factors such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFa) and transforming growth factor beta (TGFb) are essential in the development of fibrogenic disease and that there are direct molecular pathways through which TNFa drives expression of the gene that codes for TGFb.
Dr. Brody's research has been generously supported by the NIH and has not been interrupted since he began applying for grants in 1993. He also is the recipient of support from the State of Louisiana and from several pharmaceutical concerns. Currently Dr. Brody is the Principal Investigator (PI) on two investigator-initiated grants, one from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the other from the NIEHS. He is also the PI on a training grant from the NHLBI and of a Respiratory Disease Research
Center from the State of Louisiana. He has presented his work at research centers across the U.S. and in many countries worldwide.
