Section I, Series
10. Pennsylvania Hospital Nursing Collection, 1876-1995.
Nurses' Home and Training Center Plans, 1925-1934
(MG 3.6, 14 file folders)
Although a nurses’ residence at Pennsylvania Hospital
was not built until 1960, a nurses’ home and training
center was under consideration for many years previously.
This series includes hand-drawn preliminary plans and cost
estimates for constructing a five-story building, as well
as articles about the design of nurses’ homes in other
hospitals across the country. A fundraising brochure details
plans for an eight-story building designed to accommodate
200 nurses to be erected at 8th and Spruce Streets.
