The archives of the Hospital remain
an unbroken series from 1751 to 1978. They provide a unique resource
for students in the history of hospital development, health care
and medicine.
The collection includes personal papers of hospital
practitioners as well as the records of affiliates absorbed
by Pennsylvania Hospital such as the Philadelphia Dispensary,
the
Preston Retreat, the Southern Dispensary, the Philadelphia
Lying-In Charity, the Maternity Hospital, the Nurse Charity,
and the Humane
Society.
