AFFILIATIONS & ACCREDITATION

College Affiliations
The School of Medical Laboratory Science at Pennsylvania Hospital is affiliated with Penn State University, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, York College, Wilkes University, East Stroudsburg University, Gwynedd-Mercy College, King's College, and West Chester University.

Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a certificate from Pennsylvania Hospital, and are granted a baccalaureate degree from their affiliated college or university. Students are then eligible to take the certification exam offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Certification or other nationally recognized certification agencies.

Clinical Affiliates
The School of Medical Laboratory Science at Pennsylvania Hospital is affiliated with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, a top ranked hosptial in the U.S. Students will complete fifteen weeks of rotations at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in the routine clinical laboratories and many of their specialty laboratories and Presbyterian Medical Center.

Accreditation
The School of Medical Laboratory Science at Pennsylvania Hospital is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), which is recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Laboratory accreditations include AABB (American Association of Blood Banks), CAP (College of American Pathologists), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

Pennsylvania Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (TJC).
