Anesthesiology
This course provides students with an overview of the specialty,
focusing on the maintenance of homeostasis in the anesthetized

Emphasis is placed on control of the airway, including endotracheal
intubation and the monitoring and management of the cardiac
and respiratory systems in patients receiving general and regional
anesthesia.
Students follow patients from pre-operative evaluation through
post-operative recovery, with most of the time spent in the
operating room under the supervision of a faculty member. Students
participate in all teaching activities of the Department of
Anesthesiology, and have the opportunity to attend a number
