This course offers experience in surgical and autopsy pathology
in a laboratory which examines a large volume of interesting
cases
using state-of-the-art
technology, including immunohistochemistry, in-situ-hybridization,
electron microscopy, flow cytometry, and image analysis.
Students
participate in gross dissection and microscopic examination
of surgical specimens and assist in autopsies. Students participate
with the pathology residents in all departmental teaching conferences.
An extensive departmental library and collection of teaching
slides are available for student use during the rotation.
