ARRANGEMENT

Section I, Series 10. Pennsylvania Hospital Nursing Collection, 1876-1995.

Textiles (MG 3.23, Boxes 1-8)

The nursing textile collection is housed in acid-free tissue and textile bags and boxes. It consists of over 25 nursing caps, and numerous nursing and military uniforms, as well as Helen G. McClelland's nursing supervisor uniform from 1917. Items include: several early pin-striped dresses (c. 1890s) and white cotton skirt aprons and pinafore bibs; a white cotton uniform with pearl buttons from the 1960s; summer and winter navy blue capes that were part of the Pennsylvania Hospital nursing uniform; silver belt buckles that were awarded to Pennsylvania Hospital graduates; silver Good Samaritan pins from 1897, 1899 and 1910; 2 gold Good Samaritan pins; nurse's military caduceus pins; and 2 sets of sleeves, starched collar and cap from Helen G. McClelland.
