7. Negatives – Glass Plate.
There are over 200 glass plate negatives in the collection.
Many of the images in this series can also be found in Series
I, Series V, and Series VIII. This series has been divided into
six subseries, which include:
Subseries A: Buildings
Internal and external aspects of Hospital property. Showcases the variant architecture
and grounds of the Hospital. Includes numerous images of some of the most
highly recognizable Hospital buildings, such as the Pine Building.
Subseries B: Departments & Procedures,
1880s-1920s
Images of Outpatient Services, Nursing, Support Staff, and Surgery.
Subseries C: Instruments
/ Artifacts
Photographs of some of the artifacts housed in the Hospital’s Historic
Collections.
Subseries D: Paintings
/ Artwork
Images of painted portraits and of Benjamin West’s painting, “Christ
Healing the Sick in the Temple.”
Subseries E: People
Portraits of groups and individuals who were part of the Hospital’s history.
Nursing school class photos, staff portraits, and intern/ resident groups are
among the most notable images in this subseries.
Subseries F: Transportation,
1927
Images of the Hospital’s automobile ambulance service.
